Several benefits can be gained by cleaning up your computer hard drive subsystem. Regardless of computer
type, a PC can work faster for you when their drives contain a relatively small
number of files that are to be organized and stored inside the hard disk. Space freed
up after cleanup is complete will reduce the load on the FAT tables and improve performance.
And when doing a defrag the outcome is improved when the system has plenty of free disk
space at hand. And with the temptation of private files taken away, it is then unlikely
that privacy could be compromised by unauthorized individuals.
Even though undertaking a computer cleanup generally has a positive outcome, you
have to make sure you have also considered the risks prior to rushing in. Remember
that files could accidentally be deleted, by the hard drive cleaner tool or by mistake when
doing this by hand. Removing redundant or unwanted files needs some time set aside,
mainly when cleaned by hand but automated cleanup tools will take time as well.
These are minor issues though and the benefits balance any of these negatives.
